I love taking pictures of flowers. The colors are so vivid. I do have problems with the reds and yellows, they almost glow they are so bright.

You are not the only one who has problems with reds and yellows. They are difficult to expose correctly for. Try stopping down a bit and underexposing the picture a tad. That should keep the colors from overpowering the pixels. If you have a saturation tool in your camera menu, try selecting (-). This will take some of the bite out of the color. A polarizing filter will also help to remove the lighting glare from the petals.
