The subject this week is:  "Autumn"

Interpret this any way you like and have fun!

   So armed with my camera, new filter and instructions on how to use it I went off looking for autumn pictures.  Right away I ran into a problem.  Looking into my viewfinder I couldn't see well enough to tell any difference when I rotated my filter!  I tried covering it and looking but really couldn't tell much.  It was also overcast at times by the time we got started.  Some pictures turned out great, some awful and very dark and some more colorful then they looked in real life.  I even brought my tripod and used it.  Gee, starting to at least look like I know what I am doing, LOL.  So here are a few.  As usual  I took over 180 pictures and have trouble decided which to show so I will show more then one, less then 180.

      Now this one is a little dark but I love the way the road S curves away.

We were at the beginning of the horse trail so this hitching posts drew my attention along with the dark red sumac in the back.

   This is one of those that was more colorful in the picture then I remembered it really being.  My husband says it really looked like that but he had sunglasses on.  Must be the filter?  I do like the road in it though.

  We have lots of wild turkey around and these 2 sat still long enough for a picture.

    Last but not the least of the many I took the sound of crunching leaves under my feet as I climbed up steep hills to get to the top for pictures.  Taking pictures is good exercise.

Your Monday Photo Shoot: Horses are nice. Show us a horse picture you've taken. It can be new, or one from your files. It just needs to have a horse in it. Donkeys, mules, ponies, zebras, and quagga are also acceptable, and I'll be impressed if you have a picture of a quagga in your files, being that they've been extinct for 125 years and all.By The Way...

    Well,  I had some horses in my files but wanted something new so yesterday we went looking for a good looking horse or 2.  I think this one is so pretty.

Hey Greg, the bucks stopped here!

  Absolutely terrible pictures but I wanted to show the bucks we had in the back yard.   I had to shoot through the window because for some reason when you go out to point and shoot they are off in a flash, LOL.

                 

Using my circular polarizer filter

  I finally got my new filter and a sunny day.  It had been raining for days.  I can see I have some things to learn with it like the best time to use it, but it makes a huge difference in clouds and some other shots.  I should have taken some with and without so I could see exactly what the difference was but of course didn't think about that until after I was home.

    The clouds were very impressive yesterday anyway but with the filter it really shows how I saw them.   It does seem to darken the entire picture though and I will need to figure that out better.

   We were on another bike ride so these are of the trail through the woods.

      

  Next just some more cloud shots.  I really like the clouds we had yesterday.

 The next picture I got a kick out of because I never noticed the golfer in the picture until I enlarged it.  Can you see him taking his swing?

   Next a couple of shots I liked.  This mushroom was growing out of the side of a tree and was at least 12 inches if not bigger around.  Not your usual shelf mushrooms.

    Check out the ripples in the water, cool, and you can see the water running off of the goose.

  Now probably using the filter in the woods was a mistake as the colors did not look like this, however, I like the way it gives the woods a cool dark look so to me it works.

  

   The river looks cool, it was pretty anyway yesterday, very sparkly and the pictures turned out pretty nice.

 

                                       My favorite

         I also invested in Photoshop element 7.  It reminds me so much of the program I lost.  I really like a program like this for fixing old family photos.   I took all my photo albums and pictures of us as children and repaired any bent corners and tears and then downloaded them on cd's.  For a small fee I did my friends and families old pictures and had gotten pretty good at it.  All I did was repair, not alter the pictures.  So I am glad to have this new program.  I need to practice but check out how I got rid of the lines.  Thanks all for recommending it.

        I wanted this picture of the clouds with the rays coming out but couldn't get away from the wires.  Then I decided it would be a good shot to practice with so I took it and practiced.

  Not perfect but lots better and I will keep working on it.

      As usual I have taken lots of pictures.  I am a picture taker but I will just show one more.

   Well I have several favorite things so there are a few.

                       My dog Zoey, isn't she beautiful!

   And last but not least and not excluding my grandchildren and sons,  my biking partner and husband of 33 years along with my beloved bicycle.

       

   So here they are, some of my favorite things.  I should have included a book since I don't have TV and love to read........ a good homebrewed beer because I love one of those after a nice long bike ride............  my patients but it is agains't the law to show them, privacy and all......... and a picture of the USA as it is way up there in my favorite things.......my computer.........my camera..........my favorite satan pj's...........and on and on and on and onnnnnnnnnn.

Great Old Buildings

   I needed out of the house yesterday.  Too sad all the memories.  So we went for a drive in South Dakato's back roads.  What wonderful old buildings.  I was thrilled to find this old homestead from 1869.

 

Just think, all the wood, all the work on this old house was done by hand.  This was fancier then alot of the old homes, 2 stories, gables..... I love this old building.

This next old barn is pretty neat also but I couldn't get a clear shot.  Check out the windows on it!

I look at these old homes, the children have moved and don't want to farm, the buildings just fall, abandoned.

  Also we saw some great old barns.  Some didn't look like they still should be used but they are....Some are huge and look in good shape.

Almost overnight the soy beans started to get yellow.  Fall is here.

The bank in Gayville is empty as are most of the banks in small towns these days.   This would make a cute little house and we have seen quite a few remodeled that way

One family built their own observation tower on top of the hill.

  As usual I took a ton of pictures.  I am more a picture taker then a photographer.  I look back on my pictures and remember fun trips and happy times.  A nice drive on a special day.

   I am excited.  I finally bought a CIRCULAR POLARIZER LENS FILTER  and can't wait until I get it to try out.  Should help with the soon to see snow pictures.  I also bought photoshop element 4.0 and will be getting that soon.  I plan to take out the wires in that old house picture plus the disc in the front yard.
